Starting in 1972, the Open Bible Hour Ministry has grown to a combination of daily and weekly Radio Broadcasts on more than 30 national and international radio stations. These radio broadcasts led to the development of a Bible Distribution Ministry where over 1,000,000 Bibles have been sent out, free of charge, to anyone who has written the ministry requesting a copy of God’s Word.

At the core of what Thru the Bible is and what we do, is the conviction that the Bible is true and trustworthy. We believe God uses His Word uniquely in each of our lives to transform the way we think, believe, and live.
Dr. J. Vernon McGee, our founder and teacher, loved to tell the story more than anything else in the world. He began teaching on the radio in 1941, hoping that the San Gabriel Valley and the metropolitan Los Angeles area would pay attention and respond to the wonders of the Bible, simply told. And to his surprise, people listened. Because not only is the Bible a good story, and Dr. McGee a good storyteller, but through the Bible is also the primary way God draws us to Himself. It is the purpose of Tabernacle Children's Home to minister to children in meeting their physical, spiritual, and education needs. This is done through the ministry of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Christian School, and College. Our ministry spans the ages from infancy to 18 years of age, though we do not accept children beyond the age of 12, we will care for them to their adulthood. It is their preference to receive children through the recommendation of supporting Independent Baptist Churches. The operating structure of the Home is now a house parenting approach with house parents and children in each dormitory.

While attending Crown College, the Lord began to deal with my Jason's heart about church planting. After traveling to the northeastern portion of America, the Lord confirmed in his heart that He wanted us in stateside missions. After graduation, Jason and his wife, Teresa, came on staff in her home church, Fellowship Baptist Church in Wytheville, VA, under the leadership of Pastor Donald Drake. In November of 2006, the Lord enabled them to travel to Alaska on a construction mission’s trip. While on this trip, the Lord opened Jason's heart and eyes to the people of the 49th American state. They returned and continued working in their church, constantly praying for God’s direction. They answered God’s call in the fall of 2008, and under the leadership of their Pastor, have been accepted as missionaries to the state of Alaska. God is continuing to bless their lives; He has given them four boys to raise in Alaska for His glory!
